Does wudu break if one's nose runs due to a cold?
The Query:
Does wudu break if one's nose runs due to a cold?
The Answer:
Wudu does not break if any amount of discharge comes out of the nose. Phlegm and sputum discharge is clean as it does not have blood or traces of blood in it. Our Ulama emphasize that discharging any amount of phlegm does not nullify wudu. It is recorded in Nur al-Idha and Maraqi al Falah that ten things do not nullify wudu, and phlegm is one of them. This is because impurities do not enter phlegm, and it is by itself clean.
