Why Hazrat Esa عليه الصلاة والسلام known as Kalimatul-laah and Roohul-laah ?

Query: Why is Hazrat Esa عليه الصلاة والسلام known as Kalimatul-laah and Roohul-laah and what do they mean?

Answer: He is known as Kalimatul-laah because he is a special Manifestation of the Divine Power of Allah, which is unique from the other Manifestations.

Every human and the entire universe is (from) the Manifestation of Allah, but Hazrat Esa Ala Nabiyyina wa Alaihis Salaatu was Salaam is from the special Manifestation of Allah’s Divine Power.

From this, is that he was born in a distinct and amazing manner from the womb of the pure virgin Hazrat e Maryam the chaste. In this is the special blessing of Allah’s Divine Power. In this, there is no effort or power of any human being, but this is uniquely by the Divine Power of Almighty Allah.

On the basis of this, he is known as Kalimatul-laah, as by this, Almighty Allah is remembered in a special manner. He is known as Roohul-laah in this sense, that he is the soul and the life of the Deen of Almighty Allah, and He was born by the ‘Amr’, i.e. the Divine Command of Almighty Allah i.e. Aalam e ‘Amr, because the soul is from the ‘Aalam e ‘Amr. This is why here the reference to the Rooh is for respect and honour.

It is not in the sense like it is used for ordinary people, by saying that it is the soul of a person, with the meaning that it is the cause of his existence i.e. of his life.

Hence, Roohul-laah here means a special soul from Allah, like ‘Baitullah’, is said (for the Kaa’ba), which is a special house i.e. place of worship, from the Houses, i.e. places where Almighty Allah is worshipped.

In other words, Almighty Allah created all of them, but this is a special one amongst them, and He did not refer to every house as His House, but He referred to the Kaa’ba as ‘His House’.

In the same sense, every soul is the creation of Almighty Allah, but Hazrat Esa علیہ السلام was addressed as Roohul-laah as a mark of respect and honour, to show his excellence and honour.
