The Pillars of Islam - Hadith 3

Narrated by Abū Ábd al-Raĥmān Ábdullāh ibn Úmar ibn al-Khaţţāb رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا and he said:

I heard RasūlAllāh ﷺ say: Islām is based on five [pillars]: to bear witness that there is no God except Allāh and that Muĥammad is the Messenger of Allāh, to establish prayer, to pay the poor-due [zakāt], to perform the pilgrimage [ĥajj] and to fast in [the month of] Ramađān.

This was reported by both Bukhārī and Muslim [1].

Notes:

[1] Bukhārī 8; Muslim 16.
