What is Takbeer e Tashreeq and when to proclaim it?

Query:

1. What is takbeer e tashreeq (The Proclamation Of Enlightenment) ?

2. When to proclaim it ?

3. What if Imam did not proclaim the Takbeer of Tashreeq after jama'at ? Should the Muqtadi proclaim it ?

4. What if someone is a Munfarid (one who reads namaaz alone), What is the ruling regarding him proclamining Takbeer of Tashreeq?

Answer:

1. This is known as the ‘Takbeer-e-Tashreeq’

اللهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللهُ أَكْبَرُ، لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، وَاللهُ أَكْبَرُ، اللهُ أَكْبَرُ، وَلِلهِ الْـحَمْدُ

Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Laa ilaaha il’l-Allahu Wa-Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar, Wa Lil’l-Allahil Hamd

2. From the Fajr of the 9th of Zil Hijjah upto the Asr of the 13th of Zil Hijjah it is Waajib to proclaim the Takbeer aloud (once) after the Fard Namaaz, which has been performed with the desired Jama’at (i.e. recommended Jama’at). To proclaim it thrice is Afdal (more virtuous).

2. If the Imam did not proclaim the Takbeer (of Tashreeq), it is still Waajib upon the Muqtadi to proclaim it, even though the Muqtadi is a Musafir, a female, or a villager. [Durr-e-Mukhtar, Raddul Muhtar vol.1 pg.787]

3. The Takbeer is not Waajib upon the Munfarid (one who reads alone). [Jauhira Nayyira]. However, the Munfarid should also proclaim it, because according to the Saahibayn (i.e. Imam Abu Yusuf and Imam Muhammad) it is also Waajib upon him.
